Frequently Asked Questions
As per Annexure F of the SEBI Circular regarding validated UPI handles.
Is it compulsory for investors to use the new UPI handle only?+
No. Investors can choose their preferred mode of payment such as UPI, IMPS, NEFT, RTGS, or Cheques. However, if an investor chooses to pay through UPI to a SEBI-registered intermediary, the payment must be made only through the new validated UPI ID allotted to that intermediary.
What should I check while making payment using the new UPI ID or QR Code?+
- The UPI ID should display the name of the intermediary followed by the category abbreviation (for example brk for Brokers or mf for Mutual Funds).
- The UPI handle should contain the exclusive handle @valid followed by the bank name.
- On the payment confirmation screen, the application should show a white thumbs-up icon inside a green triangle.
- The official QR Code generated using the SEBI utility will also contain the same white thumbs-up icon inside a green triangle and will display the UPI ID below the QR Code.
Do investors also need to obtain new UPI handles to transact in the securities market?+
No. The new validated UPI IDs are issued only to registered intermediaries. Investors can continue using their existing personal UPI IDs.
Whom should I contact if my payment or transaction fails using the new UPI ID?+
The validated UPI IDs use the same banking infrastructure as existing UPI handles. In case of any transaction failure or technical issue, investors should contact their respective bank for assistance.
